[Caitlyn is very used to getting very formal invitations in the mail to very stuffy balls and galas that she doesn't want to attend. She's never gotten anything at all like this before.]
[ Perhaps surprisingly, Caitlyn will get a text message sent to her private inbox. ]
hi. sorry, i'm not used to talking with people about this so i got nervous when you talked to me before. but i want to help? if this helps
we know that people from other bubble cities like etraya can move between each other because we did it. and we had to act like we were new and it was our first time in a bubble city (this one was called moorecroft)
we know tatianna wants gossip. when i asked her what kind, she said anything. i thought she wanted information to create a profile of the type of people coming into etraya. but i think there's a few things she could be up to
1. she's legit: there's no mission behind her actions, she isn't here to study us. she just wants to know how trustworthy we are. 2: she's a trap: she has her own mission goal, or she's our secret mission. she's here to see what people will give up about each other for the chance to find out more information. or see what we don't do.
i think it doesn't matter what she is. i think what matters is how we interact with her and what we give her. i think we should be willing to give her a certain amount of information so we can know more about what's going on. but if she isn't happy with what she gets, then it doesn't matter. i won't sell out other people for her when she sucks anyway. there's no reward in it. we don't know anything about her and she's willing to to let people drink poisoned tea and hands out eggs that we don't know anything about.
seeing if people take them or don't take them or how they treat them is probably a test of the kind of people we are too.
anyway i can talk about other stuff too... or i'll try. i didn't look back on what you already said.
I agree that we ought to give her information, to see what she tells us in return. I'm certainly not suggesting we sell anyone out, but I imagine most people would be willing to volunteer some fact or other about themselves, and if Tatianna is truly uninterested in the type or quality of information, even the most mundane details ought to suffice. I've already offered her a piece of 'gossip,' such as it is, about myself.
[This is going to be a really weird call. And maybe it'll backfire, and make things super awkward... but Peter can't help but feel like he should reach out anyway. Especially since Jinx had nudged him in her direction, for reasons he thinks might involve guilt. Or something related to it.]
[Now that he's seen it all- the explosion, the aftermath, the funeral... He needs to see Caitlyn. She's mourning a loss she didn't get to see, she must have so many questions, and he's not going to be perfect at answering them, but he has to be honest. He can give her something Jinx or Sevika can't- an attempt at sympathy.]
Hey, Sprout. Sorry I was gone for so long. Can we talk?
[KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on her bedroom door. It's rapidfire and doesn't stop. When she opens it, there's Jayce, pulling on a jacket, his notebook in his mouth between his teeth, and also mid-slipping on some running shoes since he doesn't have time for his boots.]
[Vander was unusually active for someone who spent much of his latter years making and keeping the peace. There were very few items on his list that drove him immediately into action, and this situation tapped into his six-month acquired fear of losing his children. So, was this a stupid decision? Maybe. Would it put him on ice with topside? Also maybe. Did he care? Yeah, but he'd deal with it after.
So he came calling to the Kiramman mansion knowing that Cait had a gemstone and expecting that Jinx would be able to lift the atlas gauntlet from Jayce. If this came to a fight, he wanted to be at the front line, the usual position for someone of his skill set. It required the gemstone because history had told him Jinx would refuse to lend him hers. While it was troubling, he didn't allow himself to dwell on it.
He knew his way around the mansion having lived there for a few weeks in the beginning of his adventure in Etraya. Was that arguing he heard? Well, that might be for the best as he headed off to look for the most likely areas of the house where Caitlyn would keep her weapon. He'd infiltrated topside residences before but never a mansion like this; that was asking for an immediate one-way life sentence in Stillwater back when he was young.
He didn't entirely hide his presence, since he had an excuse to be here and Vander technically could talk his way out of a lot of his troubles if history was any indication. In search, he avoided the voices and infiltrated rooms looking for the stone.]
[If Vander explores long enough to make his way to the bedrooms, he'll find Caitlyn's a mess of papers and books spread out over the floor in a seemingly random jumble. Most of them are from her family library, dense tomes on Runeterran history, historical data on Piltover's population, interspersed with some of her near-illegible notes on Etraya, Aurora, and Echo. The hextech rifle is laid out on a shelf below her wall of shooting trophies, its gemstone removed. There's a small wooden box sitting next to the rifle, and, should Vander open the box, he'll find the gemstone inside.
Caitlyn, for her part, is coming off a sleepless night, an argument with Jayce, and the news that someone called Robin is planning on stealing Jinx's gemstone, and she's in no mood for further complications. When she hears a sound somewhere in the mansion, she draws her rifle from its case and begins to search, moving quickly and quietly through the halls until she spots Vander's massive figure.]
Vander?
[She lowers the rifle.]
What are you doing here? Have you heard about the gemstone? Have you spoken to anyone about it?
